Elle était isolée dans cette profonde vallée, installée sur un piton rocheux de quelques 300 mètres. Munie maintenant des derniers perfectionnements techniques et avec cette piste pour hélicoptère, on pouvait y surveiller la forêt, y procéder aux premiers secours, surveiller la circulation aérienne...et étant pas très éloignée de la mer (une centaine de kilomètres) surveiller par radar, l'état des flots. Au cours des ans, elle avait évolué, mais restait toujours pour les habitants de la région, "La TOUR" !
