Description
at the coffee shop is some costums of old custom around here. i was going to go but did not. lol i would have gotten shots of people jumping off horse, go carts, four wheelers and any thing that have wheels. Oh and out of the back of pickup trucks too. They be dress in costums like the one you see here but of diff colors .
Why they be jumping off they rides and run like some one be chaseing chickens at some house they stopped at? The owner of the house would come out and throw a chicken out for the people to caught it and bring it with them so at the end of the ride they can cook a big chicken and sauage gumbo. Today times the gumbo be cooked already so when the riders get to the end of the ride like at a park they can eat and drink and be merry. Full of gumbo too. I missed that; just did not feel like going.
I did go to the mardi gras in Lafayette today but no camera lol I need to get my camera back from my daugher in law. I feel lost with out it. missed shots like 1000's of geese in a farm feild feeding there. Most I ever saw. Missed some swamps shots I wish to have taken for I was in a diff place than normal at that time. Missed mardi gras shots of people trying to get breads and people takeing photos too. May not be importance shots or be world reknow shots but it fun and make me happy to do it. even if they come out bad lol . I do like to share the art too and look at other people art so I know I in good compance with wonderful people of all levels of work. I may not be in the top ones but who cares. Just be happy like the song say by
Bobby McFerrin - Don't worry, Be happy - Happy Song [there is a song name that]

Shame about the camera Jock I would have liked to see a large concentration of geese like that, but this shot is a great one, these moments caught in time are a delight.

We all hear about the beads and drinking in New Orleans, but this looks like a great tradition for a community to enjoy, and it's new to me. Very colorful, too! I'm starting to miss your camera, too. LOL. I hope she's got some nice photos to show for all that borrowing!

I swunny! You have been talking for a time about how y'all don't think you are up there with the best and, Jock, ya got a bit of a different style but having style is pure art. I think what y'all do is the best. I am so sorry you missed out on the festival. I was looking for those shots from you. :-) They would have been real doin's and not media stuff. I like this mask and that story about chasing chickens around is just rich! Love it!

Cool costume Jock, and story regarding the Marti Gras! I feel for you being without your camera! I hope you get it back soon!

Fun and friendly mardi gras shot.

Oh wow, fabulous picture! Today on National Public Radio, they talked about Mardi Gras in the country. Much different then we all think when we hear Mardi Gras, we think of Rio and New Orleans. In the country and the small towns, they do just what you are describing, stopping cars and going to people's houses begging for money and food so they can have this great big feast to which everyone is apparently invited! And if you DON'T give money or food, they'll take your shoe something, and you're left walking around with one shoe, LOL! It all sounds like such great fun, and I'm sorry you didn't have your camera to get some of these shots. It must have been a lot of fun! GO GET YOUR CAMERA!!! LOL!

Great shot, Jock, but who is that weird dude with the outlandish beard, cogwheel eyes and red dreadlocks? Too big to be a troll. You only have one camera? I thought you had more than that.
