Description

This is for my new friend Godin, a new artist on Renderosity who is already making a name for herself with her beautiful complex fantasty work. One of my favourite images by her is "A magic summer night" Hope you like her Valery. Again I use the wonderful Neila by Moonbunnie as the Goddess Scota. Here she is in full black battle gear and perhaps looking a bit tired from the campaign but still trying to show bravado as a leader. Thank you Nicole, I hope I have given you a bit of the diversity you were looking for when you gifted her to me and asked for a Goddess. Scota leads her regiment of Milesian warriors into battle during the conquest of Ireland. Somehow this picture strikes a deep chord within me and I felt the cold touch of the Goddess as I worked on it. After I titled it, I got very sad - knowing this brave warrior queen was killed in battle during the invasion and it became a bit difficult to finish the postwork. I hope I have given her some justice and perhaps rekindled some long buried memories. A few of you have suggested that I may have been putting a bit too much joy into Scota and your point is taken. However, this painstaking render and hours of postwork were done before your comments on the first Scota image started coming in. I have plans for at least one or two more and will endeavor to show the darker side of Scota. I'll probably not be posting until early March as I am travelling on business at the end of this week. Maybe I will squeeze in one more but I doubt it because the next pics in this miniseries are complicated. But I will try to keep up comment on your works. Ta for now. Previous

She remains me a little of Leela from Doctor Who. The fierce huntress, never afraid to engage the baddies in mortal combat. She always won of coarse. Excellent posing, her action looks so fluid and natural.

This is such a fantastic image...the reflected light on the swords, the posing of her hair and her skirt to show movement...the expression of joy on her face... Great job!

Some of the most fearsome warriors in history LOVED the sounds and smells of battle, actually enjoyed blood splashing across them. Sounds sick, I know LOL, but my point is a smile is quite legit if this is her thing...

Love it! I see you've put a sword in both hands, too. I guess I am in the minority when I say I like her smile. I think it suits her style, as well as the context. Warriors looked upon battle differently in those days, and often considered it a pleasure of sorts, rather like modern American football players. I understand that in his youth Alexander the Great always smiled and even laughed in battle, which totally unnerved his enemies. So, to see Scota smiling seems somehow completely appropriate. Nicely done!

I think the text really puts an interesting twist on this... there is such joy and life in your portrayal of Scota and yet it is sad knowing how the day's battle will end for her. The image itself is both beautiful and detailed. Well done!
