Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)Â
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

First, thank you so much for coming to my gallery on my birthday & extending your wishes in another gallery as well—much appreciated. Second, I've seen you in so many places here, I don't know why I never stopped in your gallery sooner. It's just time, and never being able to get to everyone I want...Well I chose this image at random, just to get a 'taste'; and brother did I pick a magical image! The Alhambra of course speaks for itself, it's a photographic cornucopia (or nightmare I guess, depending on one's point of view!). But what you've done with it is something else: You've given us a silvery soft light, a patina of a rare jewel, and it shimmers and it's soft & dreamy, but not too dreamy. It's like a picture seen through a beautiful window: It's touched by a patina of a veil. And your composition shows strong architectural sense (maybe you've done architectural shot alot, I don't know): A straight-on shot of the face of a great arch (atop) and its reflected arches behind. One of the glories of this style—like the Gothic in Western Europe—was to turn stone walls into sinews, and make them seem like webs letting-in light everywhere. You caught that, along with a wonderful slight sense of mist. Beautiful shot all around. I'll be back...
