This started out as me working on my VRay skin shader. .oO(still needs work) Still trying to create the right scene setup and lighting to work best with my shader, Feel free to comment etc, hope you like it :) Tools ----- 3DS Max 2009 Vray Poser -(Base texture for the skin shader from DAZ) -(Dragonfly from TurboSquid. Vray materials applied)

Concentrating on the skin on this one - you've got the bump map on the torso part of the neck about right, but it flattens out noticeably on the neck proper and the face, and it's definitely not depth of field or the angle to blame. Pores would be visible at this range, so that's what's making it a bit flat and uneventful compared to the neck. I really like the translucency around the septum of the nose which is cartilage - dunno how you did that, but it's terrific. Remember it applies to ears even more so. I usually cheat and lighten the shadows inside ears in post, but then I also usually have a photo for reference. Lastly, I might bump up the eyebrows a bit.
