Description
Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown, TX. The cavern�s resident bats, the Eastern Pipistrelle, are the smallest in Texas and second smallest in the country. They moved into the cave after its opening in the 1960s.
**This one is a female bat, known by her blonde color of fur, the males have a darker, chocolate brown color**

Outstanding... I believe they are also known as butterfly bats or moth bats because they are slow flyers and they are so small they can be mistaken (by people "blind as bats" I'm sure!) for moths. Interesting that they are the second smallest bat - I wonder if the Mexican brown bat is then smaller or larger? I love how you got light on the face so his features are well defined. Excellent shot.

So marvellous! Lucky you, I have pipstrelles flying in my garden but have never been close to a bat. I used to stand outside with my arms like a tree when I was little in the hopes they would hang on me!
