Description

I had to update the image and the poem below because I was not aware that most of Hermann Hesse's works are still under copyright law. So I cropped the poem in a way that to me still makes sense. For those of you that want to read the complete poem I recommend to have a look into a library or search the internet - it's definitly worth it. You'll find not only a poem but words full of comfort and hope. Some weeks ago I stumbled across one of my favorite peoms from schooldays when watching TV. Someone declaimed the last sentences of the peom "Stufen" by Hermann Hesse. I remembered the time when Hermann Hesse was very popular, I think almost every young one knew at least the novel "Steppenwolf" or "Siddharta" in those days. After the whole mess we went through during the last months I confess that the poem "Stufen" comforted me a lot - so why not make an image inspired by it?! For all the non-german-speakers here I included a translation I found on the web: In all beginnings dwells a magic force For guarding us and helping us to live. Even the hour of our death may send Us speeding on to fresh and newer spaces, And life may summon us to newer races. So be it, heart: bid farewell without end. Translated by Richard and Clara Winston in The Glass Bead Game Technical: Little Miss Lotta showing one of the "Doll faces" that will be included in the caracter set. Fabi's sweet "The Magic Sense for V4" clothes and jewelry (3dcommune) gave the perfect outfit for this theme. I tweaked them with the "Morphing Clothes" tool by Dimension3d to fit Miss Lotta. The background is a combination of two images, the upper one by Lynn Perkins was faded over a simple but effective background made by Ilona. The sparkles came from a brush by patslash (RDNA), the pose is a freebie by AerySoul, the hair is the Delphia hair (Littlefox/DAZ).

Yes, I love the combination of the image and the poem--and it is such a wonderful poem! The heart shaped balloon seems so appropriate!

This is beautiful...I've read this before. I was quite the fan of Hesse some years ago when I was in college---between William Blake and Hesse, they pretty much took over my poetry years. :) I had actually started out wanting to be a poet until I figured out that starving poet was not just some abstract label, but was indeed a very real condition. :D
