Description

This is a Jumping Jack Ant, there are three main species of ants that cause anaphylactic reactions in Australia. I have a small colony in my backyard, some people can have an allergic reaction to their sting and be in serious trouble. They can jump up to 15cm at a time. when I was taking the pic, for a moment there I thought he was poised to jump on my face.

A superb picture of this rather alarming creature. That is a huge leap, I don't think I'd be a keen gardener in your country!
