You know me. I'm always thinking...how did he do that? Now, you don't have to answer that...just wanted you to know what comes to mind first. Looked at the 2006 version...looked at the new version. Like them both, yet quite a difference. I have just been reading about the Orton effect...blending two or three layers of the same photo with different exposures, degrees of sharpness, etc. Have not concluded whether I like that effect but I can appreciate the artistry of it. Old conservative me likes the first version best. Second version could be the last photo ever taken before the blast wave strikes. Wow. One way or the other, you've got another winning photo image.

The difference in cropping (adding more perspective),increased drama in the lighting effect and color saturation change the mood considerably.

I immediately see it as an illustration or a still from a movie, what a great artwork!

I like the first one because it has almost a watercolor or painterly feel to it. I like the starker contrasts, the mists in the distance, and the mood of it. This one, though the very same picture, has a totally different feel, or mood to it. I like it as well, it has almost an otherworldly feel, as if something momentuous is going to happen any second. To me, it's like comparing apples and oranges .. impossible. Thankfully I don't have to choose, I can enjoy each for it offers me.

I´ve seen the first one and i think is very good:i like the atmosphere, the lights and feellings we feel there, and in the street lots of contrasts.I like the deepness and everything is very impressive for me(i never had seen until now). This 2nd is different, but i like it too. It´s not so deep and there is more light, different lights and the place is more "alive" if this is the right word...The colour mixed with B/W looks good and the effect is amazing. Both are Beautiful and a good work, but different and both make me feel differents things about. But, looking once more i like more the 1st one.

both are excellent images, I find the other to have a slightly more subdued and introspective mood, while this is more 'hopeful' with the bright light and strong, clean contrasts.. great work Nikolay

you've turned a street into a magnet for deep light, and produced saturated glowing facades & bricks & glowing structures, with deep shadows on the other end, and a light in the background that not only dissolves your picture but draws us to it as if everything is in it. A light-driven & intense vision, what a city might look like in the inner mind. Has a kind of science-fiction air, and it feels almost like a power has come and swallowed up everything that sits beyond our line of sight. Very creative, Nikolay. I'm now going to see the earlier version...
