Description

lame title but I am unimaginative this morning.I recently bought a new lens by Tamron 18-270 stabilized and I am loving it.especially the way it captures downtown buildings.the taller building in the center is the same one in "Illusion" I recently posted thanks for viewing and any comments

Many years ago I worked for a very intelligent, penetrating mind, then in middle age in a Yankee city that will remain unnamed. He had risen to the top, and had somehow remained honest and straightforward, which in the business he was in was not easy. He hailed originally from rural Appalachia, and had arrived in his late teens in the city in question. One day he called me into his office and said, "You know, old boy, when I first arrived here from Appalachia, I walked around for weeks terrified that the buildings would fall down." He meant it literally, not as a metaphor. He was not the least impressed by what the "state" or the financial elite wishes to impart with their monumental architecture, which is a sense of their power. He instinctively feared their weakness. As I said, a brilliant man, though not formally educated at all, beyond his own efforts. Interestingly enough, his second-in-command was a Marine Sergeant (there are no "ex-Marines") of Polish Yankee extraction who had the biggest collection of Leadbelly records in the East. And a lot of .45 automatics (lousy weapon of choice for "Home Defense"). I was privileged to be invited to his home again and again to listen to them. So much for the stereotypes upon which this "system" operates and upon which it is collapsing. These skyscrapers, like all of them, are trash. Monumental trash perhaps, but architectually inhuman and boring and still trash. Dangerous trash indeed, like Madoff and Stanford Allen, and the Bushes and their ilk, of whatever "rank" or "party."
