Description
During the Carnival people go to Venice to see and especially to be seen, and photographed. The competition is ruthless. People work for a year or more to create complex headgear and elaborate costumes, and often make an appearance as a couple or a group in order to multiply the effect and surprise the audience. This young girl succeeded in drawing the attention with a simple costume and her pretty face. When everybody hid his or her face under a mask, she sported a sweet smile and dreamy eyes. Photographers killed to take a shot of her. I did my part.
The girl's hair is a beautiful Venetian red, but she looks from the Celtic Fringe: hence the 'lass' in the title.

That's a beautiful portrait! Very effective without a mask and also Celtic looking. She could have just stepped off a fishing boat in Nova Scotia!

Se devo essere onesto , Sandra , questa foto mi piace proprio perche' e' senza maschera . nessuna maschera puo' rendere il calore di questo sorriso! Le maschere del carnevale di Venezia sono bellissime , ma , personalmente le trovo fredde , puro oggetto di artigianato. A me piace la persona che diventa una maschera , molto meno la maschera che nasconde la persona .Lo so che sono un soggetto strano ( ma ormai non c'e' rimedio , dopo 65 anni ) Di nuovo buon compleanno , spero tu l'abbia festeggiato adeguatamente !
