Batalha, Portugal. The battle was an incredible event, that sealed a still standing alliance with England, the longest ever. And the church built to commemorate the event is even more amazing. It's been extended through the years, and it's unfinished, one can hardly imagine what those mighty pillars were meant to bear, I love these unfinished follies, like the immense and never completed cathedral of Siena ... monuments to the excess of human ambitions ...
