Description

This is without a doubt the most calm place I've ever visited..Chott el Jerid. Flat, baren but beautiful ..the remains of a vast lake left behind when the Mediterranean retreated. Usually the salt crystals sparkle but we saw it after heavy rain ( our guide said it was 20 years since she had seen it so flooded) and it effectively cuts Tunisia in half. Must return to see the salt crust! One of the sights of the holiday.
