Description

My third oil painting ever. I decided to paint this in black and white oils, mostly as an experiment, since life is pretty much black and white... my husband always says he is a black and white kinda guy, straight forward and non-complicated. This monochromatic painting represents my emotional state at one point. I think reflecting on the past can bring up anxiety and emotion. Sometimes after strong emotional feelings are released the mind grows much clearer and things become black and white, you can then tell what is important to do and what is not, what is meaningful, what is not, etc. This was prepared in the master's method of thick modeling paste mixed with gesso and after several layers of that just painting with normal oil paints. It is close to dry however I will varnish this week and put up for sale. Did you know that some paintings are still wet for up to 70 or 80 years?

Very stylish. I love the emotions, her face, and shades of black and white. I was struck by how you've filled the canvas with this woman. I had no idea that paintings could take that long to dry. Wonderful work!
