Description
I HAVEN'T SEEN A LOT OF DOGWOOD TREES HERE IN FLORIDA UNTIL I WALKED AROUND THE BLOCK WHERE I LIVE YESTERDAY. TO MY DELIGHT I FOUND SEVERAL. UNTIL THEN I HADN'T SEEN ANY HERE IN FLORIDA.
LEGEND HAS IT THAT WHEN CHRIST WAS HUNG ON THE CROSS THE DOGWOOD WAS THE TREE FROM WHICH THE BEAMS WERE CUT. AFTER THE CRUCIFIXION THE TREE TOOK ON ITS PRESENT FORM AND THE FLOWERS TOOK THE SHAPE OF THE CROSS.
