"Metropolis" By David J. Reid aka "Shardz" Software used: Poser Pro, Hexagon 2.5, Photoshop CS3 Please view full size! *~* Image Notes *~* After ten months since my last post here, I have arrived with something completely different from my usual bag of tricks. I recently had the pleasure to view the amazing 1927 film Metropolis in a completely restored version (2002 Kino International release); I must say that even after 82 years, this film surpasses today's flawed celluloid productions tenfold. The story is very complex and contains so many elements that are still very much relevant to our modern day lives; I simply don't wish to summarize the plot here in case some might wish to view it for the first time and also due to space limitations here. A sizable portion of the original footage was thought to be lost from this version until July 2008 where film experts discovered the missing reduction negative in a film museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina which included 86 more minutes of footage. The reels had been intentionally mislabeled for purposes of protection against military coups at the time. A new release of the movie including the restored footage is slated for release again in 2009. I highly recommend viewing this film as it is historic and a remarkable example of technological vision and foresight. My portrayal here is a more modernized creative update which embodies the cloned Prophet who leads the workers to complete revolution against the system and the destruction of the machines that separate the social classes from union. I decided to make her more iconic, godlike, robotic and cold as she preaches to the masses how the political system must be overthrown as their doom is imminent unless drastic action is taken. I also went with a film noir poster style for this piece and tried to include as much grit and film noise as possible to emulate the style and date of the film. The color version simply wasn't making the grade and didn't convey the cold and mechanical feel I was looking for...so Photoshop to the rescue once again! If you read through all this in entirety, I do appreciate your interest and encourage you to check this masterpiece out for yourself! *~*~* Credits List *~*~* *~* Retail Stuff *~* Daz3D - Victoria V4.2 & Morphs ++ Daz3D - Bot Armor V4 Daz3D - Zygote Morphing Skull The Slinger - Armz (Blade) Dreampaint - PsyDreams Various Props Darkscorn & Soulsliver - ShadowSong (Blade) *~ Free Stuff ~* Dreampaint - Various Props FreyrStrongart - Torc (Holiday Giveaway 2005) Thank you very much for your time and kind support, as always!
