Description

Hi there. Today a picture of a Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja). The females are about 108cm long and had a wingspan of 200cm and typically a weight of 6,5 to 9 kg. The males are smaller and only reaching a weight of 3,8 to 5,4 kg. The shot is taken through a grid and the light was not perfect. Also the bird where not as friendly as the Stellar's Sea Eagle from one of my last posts. Please zoom. I hope you enjoy and I wish you all a very happy weekend.

ISO 280 with F8.0 seems like a bad combination for capturing this bird- an ISO setting of 100 with a wider aperature would have allowed you to capture this bird while seperating him from his background more, using the depth of field to blur the background and foreground while focusing totally on the subject. The auto settings of your camera can kill creative shots- take control and use manual settings to get the results that really shine! It's not too hard, just believe in your eye and watch the results. Overall, a cool capture- but better produced by controlling the settings yourself! Just some advice- I wouldnt give it to anyone else I did not have confidence in.

in California yesterday an eagle flew into the window of a parked semi truck/trailer.the driver was asleep in the camper.the eagle was very upset to say the least.it took animal control people to get it out.it weighed 13 pounds and with a 7 feet wing span. excellent capture and beautiful bird
