Description

...inspired by an "old" photo from the web. We don't have mountains in Denmark :) Focus in this one on lighting/atmosphere (clear high-altitude air), and tree/vegetation design. The "straight" look of the tall pines is intentional. Toolbox: Vue 7 Complete, Onyxtree, XFrog, G3D (AKA "Bantam3D") "Twig" & "Grass", and Photoshop for minor corrections. Some 5 hrs render with "outdoor radiosity", user settings, a little more than medium AA settings. All objects & textures by me. Thanks for taking a look, comments etc. very much welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars ***COMMENT UPDATE*** Some of you have asked about the models (treestumps and rocks). The treestumps are exported from Onyxtree as "chainsawed" trunks, then given the broken look with a boolean operation in Vue (a rough terrain turned about 180 degr., then grouped with the trunk as a boolean difference). But an OK treestump could also modeled entirely in Vue using terrains and booleans. The rocks are made as symmetrical terrains, sculpted and clipped to give the sharp, square look. Just like here in Lahti, Finland we have place called ''Salpausselkä'', summer/winter sports center. Great forests and variations of hights there. Excellent work, interesting environment and perfect ecosystem.
