Description
Okey-dokey! This is a cropped shot of something I'm working on. I've been at this for 3 days while my muse was willing and staying up until all hours of the night to get renders done and get into some of the post-work part. On the plus side, while I'm waiting on rendering part, I get to read more of Faith of the Fallen from the Sword of Truth series. XD
As the image says, the top image is the original rough render just for the composition and lighting. Well, I decided I didn't like the smooth, kind of blah Furries "fur"that you can acquire for the Melody and Micah Furries figures, so I went back in DAZ|Studio and added Marianne's "Fuzzy Wuzzy Shader". It's a great freebie. Only problem is it's intended for rendering the chunky fake fur on toys, so it looked way too artificial in its natural state. So out comes Paint Shop Pro X and a whole lot of blending, blurring and touching-up.
I pumped up the eyes a bit, too, to make the blue pop more and give a little more definition and depth with some more reflections and texture in the iris painted in with PSP. I also worked with shading and color in the mouth. DAZ inevitably screws up mouth and nose shadows, one of the reasons I insist on always doing post-work to clean up things like that. I redid the nose to make it work a bit better, too. It was getting a little lost in all that fur so I made it more pink and painted in some defining reflections.
I started adding little details to define some rather flat looking areas like the gloves and tie. Those might be too subtle to see in this rather shrunk down version. I'm not done with them, yet, so they may be more apparent later.
I then decided the crappy rusty look to the rendered sword just wasn't to my liking. PSP X to the rescue again. This time it was a lot of color replacing (which brought out some nice details on the crossguard) and a lot of lightening and color adjusting to make what had looked like a horribly rusted blade look more like nice Damascus steel.
Next I looked at that robot. Ugh... that orange, green and beige color scheme just wasn't doing a thing for me. It looked too much like a military droid or a service bot of some kind. Bleh. I wanted it to look more like someone's "hotrod pet robot". *chuckle* So I started changing the color scheme to the purple, gold and blue instead.
There's still a lot to be done yet before I call it complete, obviously, but it's getting there. I'm pleased with it so far.
