UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

This is a wonderful shot--and I think your friend's presence just adds to the overall effect. It reminds us of the presence we had in those days.

WOW! What an interesting image Bill. You saw and did things as an advisor we never did. Plus I think it was probably still the 'good old time' - if one can call any period over there 'good old time'. After the Gulf of Tonkin attack in 1964 troop strength increased rapidly. I was scheduled to go in that direction in May 1965 when they found out that I didn't have the proper paperwork to hold a secret clearance. So my orders were cancelled and a background investigation was started. Seven months later, and becoming a US citizen the following year I arrived in-country in June 1966. Scenes like the one you are showing were beyond our reach. I bet this photo holds a lot of memories. I am looking forward to more Bill!!!! Sig...

Interesting photo. Looks like they are haggling over the price of something.

Great capture! I agree, cropping would have lessened the shot. And Yes, do post more. : )

Great capture shakes up memories from the past.. Smell the smells, hear the sounds of the market. From the expressions, can only imagine what the discussion was about...

I'm so glad you didn't figure out how to remove your friend from the picture! I think he adds to the mood and takes away nothing. Thank you for sharing this bit of the past with us. I would love to see more of your photos from that time!

1965!? I would never have guessed, my friend! what else have you got in your box of of 'oldies'? These are great. Well done on postwork, if you did any? Just well done!!! Rob.

Interesting shot and excellent presentation :)

Arguing about quality or price? Surely not a debate between the South Vietnamese and the Viet Cong. Great POV to capture the contrast and dynamics in this shot, Bill. Believe it or not, I have really old Leica 35mm black and white photos from my tour in the Philippines, but they're all glued to pages in an album.
Meowgli
excellent timing and high contrast b&w

it's amazing what these shots bring out in your viewers. A world to tell...This is an amazing shot, one of those gathering-shots that teems, that pile-on us with human energy, conflict, coming-together, separation (some faces seem miles away), argument, even boredom and a soldier in front connected to it all. Bill, were you a photojournalist at some point? Because this really has the feel of true photojournalism, the way it captures a world of human interaction in a single shot. This is marvelous. Should you post more? Well, I'm late because I've been away for a week, but yes, yes, yes. This is wonderful, and your experience is invaluable to everyone. My gratitude! Amazing work.

What's really amazing and at the same time disturbing is that the picure is 43 years old....and we are that much older now:)

Please do them coming. I love history and I always wonder when I see pictures of people where and what they are doing now.
