Description

This was a splendid treat. I had no idea how rare it was to see one of these in the wild and there I was just 20 feet from him at times as he walked alongside us for about 20 minutes. Never attempted to run or anything. Just walked calmly. Till the end when we got a little growl from him and he told us he was done with the shoot ;-) Info on Bobcats http://www.squidoo.com/lynxbobcat Until I read this I didn't realize this was a Lynx. As a child I was terrified of the lynx cat as a very elderly man next door to me used to tell me stories of how they laid in wait atop trees and would jump on you and "getcha". Imagine my surprise when I just realized what I was playing with out in the wild!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ thanks so much for the comments on my previous picture :-) Valley View Sunset

Yeah, Yosemity is full of characters. I recall when I was a child on a camping trip there, I had been playind night tag with a group of the other kids. Well, being that it was very dark, I had run head on into a bear seaching for food in a garbage can. Anyway, all I got was a "grunt". He didn't think I was very interesting either. Lol. ~ Great shot, it is very special.

You are quite fortunate to get that near! I've only seen them a few times in the wild, with never a chance for a photo. Great shot too!

Fabulous shot and even more so in the Wild! I have seen a few creatures that have gotten more used to us humans on nature trails which can give us the chance of such a shot.. Whatever would not put this all down to luck... And if down to pure fieldcraft even more impressive..

Wonderful image!! It seems that they can become accustomed to humans in natural parks and such. We saw a fox begging from folks by their parked cars at Mt. Rainier in Washington. Kind of sad really, if they come to rely on humans for food. Hope this beauty has retained his wildness and still very lucky that you were able to get this great shot!

I've surprised a bobcat or two but I've never been awed by a lynx. How very lucky and you did a stellar job of capturing this wild creature.
