Description

Near Peterculter Aberdeenshire I happened across two Red Kites feeding at the side of the lane on a dead Pheasant. There was little time to grab the camera and I took this from inside the car. Later I noticed the coloured wing tag, a few googles later I discovered that number 41 was part of a project to re introduce Red Kites to the area, number 41 is a female released in 2008 within a few miles of where I saw her.

Not your best shot, but fascinating info. Best shot under the circumstances though, eh?

Yes each region has it's own coloured disk the blue ones came from the Black Isle, N Scotland programme which started in 2000 the 3rd release after those in 1998 in Wales (Black) and 1999 the Chilterns (Yellow)
