Life in flux. So, I was looking with passionate interest for people who were interested in making realistic materials - called shaders - for Poser mesh. That interest had shifted to making dynamic cloth for Poser, but has since moved further afield: to Blender3D. And creating scenes in Poser for Cycles.
Exciting times!!
How can it be the best things in life are free? Blender 2.63a with Cycles is just the most amazing programme, evah! How can this be free? Well, what I'm typing in: Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu 12.04) is also free. Solid, stable, never any issues, finds new devices without me having to do anything... how can this be free?
These are exciting times indeed, and they don't cost money. They cost time and imagination and dedication and a desire to learn. And they are free.
Gotta love it!

She has beautiful skin Robyn! I know you are a perfectionist sweetie so I can't wait to see the final product! Too bad it won't work in D|S.. (I think) but nevertheless I want to see it all!

first, let me say that i'm a sucker for a side-long look. i don't know why, but i always find angled portraits more appealing. i love the hair style, and i think the skin shader is good, but based on callad's renders of your characters, it think they're both hiding the quality of your work. you have some great detail in the brows and (again, judging by those other renders) in the skin that's being lost right now. i love the contrast of turquoise and red-violet, but i think you're not showing the quality of your work as highly as you could. right now, i find everything a little too even for realism. that said, lots of Poser users like textures that are very even and smooth. i have similar concerns about her features. that is, if this were just artwork, i'd suggest finding some references and trying to make a slightly more unique face. that said, i'm not sure that more unique would be popular (unless you wanted to make a famous look-a-like). since i know D|S users like callad are important customers, you might include a tutorial about how to use the make-up masks in Photoshop. or maybe sell a separate flattened version? that way you could track use of each type better. also, if you're using any references or information for your makeup masks or colors, you might want to mention them to show how hard you work at realism (because i know you do work hard at it).
