Description

I walked into work fairly early one morning and took this photo because this road gets very busy later on. You can see the roof of Winchester Cathedral in the background - which gives an idea of the size of the building - and the gateway on the right is one of the entrances to Winchester College, an exclusive private school for boys which was founded in 1382. As with many old buildings in England, the windows of the houses on the right were bricked up in order to avoid the Window Tax - which was repealed in 1851!
