Description

A co-worker gave me a couple of arms of this cactus and I put them into the ground, one in the front yard, one in the back. They are not on my irrigation system. So the only water they get is when it rains, which means not very often. Sometimes they always look like they had it, and sometimes I have to take a few arms off and throw away. In the six years I had them they only bloomed twice, and only for 24 hours. This picture was taken on 7 May 2006, the last time they bloomed. I saw it in the morning, went back inside to get my camera, took a picture. The next day they were gone. Beautiful, the squirrels love my flowers here. I found evidence of them in there do some gardening for me today LOL... they seem to prefer to knock the flowers over and then they leave them. Not sure what they are after when they do that.
