Caught this chap sunning himself/herself on a leaf in my garden. No Idea what it is, anyone any ideas? f16 1/160 iso 100

It depends on the size, but I think by the back pattern it could be an orb weaver, Araneus quadratus, or similar. It is definitely a male, those little boxing gloves are where he keeps the sperm! It also depends on when you took the pic, the species I described is active late summer to autumn. BUT a corking pic, Steve! My kind of crittur!
