SoulTaker
I would say no. a mustang was a single seater

Agree with SoulTaker. Just not enough here to hazard a guess as to type. Could have been some side by side trainer. Being in such disrepair, it makes you wonder what they are saving it for?

I wouldn't know one from another, but what I do know is that 1--this is a great shot and 2--there's sure a LOT of stuff in one of those cockpits!!

Cool shot. Not a Mustang... don't think it's a trainer either. The control stick for the pilot appears to be in place, but I can't see any provision for one for the right seat. It looks like there's some kind of specialized instrument in place for the right seat crewmember. Judging from the gauges, I think it was a single-engine aircraft. Some of the instruments are relatively modern (ILS, turn & bank).

Over load on the senses! When do you have time to fly the thing with all that to look at and monitor? Incredible shot.

Hi! Gonna try not to show off again! Been checking on Wikipedia under Australian RAAF aircraft History for the nearest thing to this. The nearest (AND I'm not 100percent sure), I can find is the Pacific Aerospace Corporation CT/4 Airtrainer. It was retired in 1993. On the listing is also by the way, The Gypsy Moth! Think this guy has a really rare stash of ex - RAAF aircraft! The Airtrainer (BAD NAME or what!) had side by side seating and was designed for full aerobatics etc so would need the full set up in the cockpit. Hope I'm right? Brilliant picture! Rob.

Had to redo my comment. Checking (which I should have done first) Blinkings world. It's "down under". Don't quite think it's a Gypsy Moth unless they were red lined at 500 Knots. (Unless you Brits knew something no one else did:) As to my original guess, Aussies didn't use the A6. But could have pulled that cockpit from anywhere. The "stick" shape indicates a more modern airplane. One exhaust Temp guage that can be seen. There is a picture of the CT/4 Airtrainers cockpit which is wholly different. The RAAf used the Canberra, a side by side but had two engines. The "T" handle on the left seat front seems to indicate an ejection seat of Martin Baker type. But there is a really good picture of a RAAF Canberra cockpit on the web and it is completely different. SO ????????. This is a really neat picture! Got any more?
