Description

The Griffon Vulture makes quite a amazing sight in flight with its huge wingspan.. Like other vultures it is a scavenger, feeding mostly from carcasses of dead animals which it finds by soaring over open areas, often moving in flocks. It grunts and hisses at roosts or when feeding on carrion. It breeds on crags in mountains in southern Europe, north Africa, and Asia, laying one egg. Griffon Vultures may form loose colonies. The population is mostly resident. Thanks as always for all comments etc have a great week-end

wow, this is a stunning capture. I don't photograph, so I have no idea what it's like to capture a bird in flight, but I assume it's not easy. He seems almost like he's posing for you—he's in flight yet he's wholly relaxed; but I suppose that's part of the power of birds of prey: They are tensed for the kill, but they're wholly reserved so their energies can be used for the attack. The sky's beautiful too. And it's amazing that you got its face. Beautiful work.
