Description

Captured 3/6/09, around 7:45 AM, within walking distance of my demure dwelling. Not willing to embarrass myself again on Renderosity in the category of floral identification, I asked the garden homeowner what species this was; he said he didn't know, that he had purchased the plant at Home Depot, and that was the full extent of his knowledge. So, not to be denied, I went to Home Depot, searched all over the flower section, which, incidentally, was uncomfortably cold, and found only one pot containing this bloom. The sticker said Osteospermum, so I checked it out on the Internet, and discovered the following: several sites show it, with one having it listed as the Flower Power White South African Daisy, scientific name osteospermum (osteo which means bone; spermum which means seed). Hence, one of the few times on RR that I don't have to title a plant as a Mystery Flower. Thankx for looking in, and have a felicitous Friday.

Bravo for you, Harry! Excellent job going to all that work to identify this lovely group of African daisies! Now that you have googled some good sites, you will soon be a whiz at this flower naming stuff! :-) Great shots and lovely collage, I especially like the top image.. glorious light!
