Description

MUSIC FOR MARK I did this draw for Mark and it has a story bellow… I’m not as dexterous as Mark with words, but let’s do it: …………………………………………… “In a small village, between mountains, a long, long time ago, there was a Birth Tradition, to make happy forever, the new-comer… So, the day before the birth, the party begun: Women played very slowly the barrel, and meanwhile men went to drink far away. All this, during the birth- time .... When the child was born, women begun playing strongly and strongly and they began singing more and more till someone brought the child outside. Then, the men arrived and the father blessed the son… And the party persisted during three days and the people of the village arrived and all of them stayed there for eating, drinking and singing all the time. In this way, the new-comer will be happy and with health forever.” ………………………………………………… My mom told me this was a tradition of his little village (Interior North of Portugal). She was a gipsy. (I have no mom anymore) (The reason I’ve posted the same draw twice in B/W and colour is: Before/After Birth and I hope the language is well…) ……………………………………………………………………………………………… Well, Mark For all your kindness, highly sensitive words and the strength and encouragement you always give to all of us to find our “inner flame”: A GREAT THANK YOU I whish you a GREAT DAY with LOTS OF HUGS, LOVE & PEACE IN YOUR WAY and have a GREAT PARTY with LOTS OF MUSIC (I hope you enjoy the story and the image and I would like to do it better but time didn’t help me…!) (Oh Ana...ok, here goes:) O Ana, isto é uma pintura mágica, e um conto mágico. Você lembrou-se de mim com um conto de sua mãe preciosa, você lembrou-se de mim com um conto da sua linhagem cigana preciosa. Você honra-me muito. Adoro o folclore, adoro contos de família, eles são a nossa herança verdadeira, e você uniu-me com a sua herança, você uniu-me com os presentes do seu passado precioso. E você lembrou-se de que eu fosse músico (fiquei músico [musician] quando tive 4 anos!), e isto honra-me muito também. Mas o mais de tudo, você pintou a pintura mais bela, Ana ... ele deriva-se do solo [soil] fértil do seu passado: posso sentir sua [your] mãe nele, posso sentir a sua herança cigana nele, posso sentir a sua herança portuguesa nele, posso sentir o seu coração nele. E a transformação de preto e branco à sua cor gloriosa é maravilhosa, somente maravilhosa. Ana: Você mostrou-nos os seus maravilhosos desenhos de figura [figure drawing], os seus desenhos humanos intensos [intense human drawing], e aqui você mostra-nos a gente arte [folk-art], você desenhou todas as maravilhosas linhas da arte de gente [folk art]. E a sua cor é luminosa, amo-o... Obrigado tão muito, para criar isto para mim agora, para escrevê-lo em inglês, e para fazer este belo desenho e pintura durante o meu aniversário. Você tocou o meu coração profundamente... (Rough translation:) Oh Ana, this is a magical painting and a magical tale. You've remembered me with a tale of your precious mother and precious gypsy heritage, you've honored me very much. I adore folk tales & family tales, they are our true inheritance; and you've connected me with your inheritance, with the gifts of your precious past; and you remembered that I was a musician (I became a musician when I was 4!), and that honors me greatly too. But most of all, you painted the most beautiful painting...it grows from the fertile soil of your past: I can feel your mother in it, I can feel your gypsy heritage in it, I can feel your Portuguese heritage in it, and I can feel your heart in it. And the transformation from black and white to your glorious color is wonderful, it's truly wonderful. And I think: You've shown us your wonderful figure-drawings, your intense human drawings, yet here you show us folk art, you've drawn all the wonderful lines of folk art. And your color is luminous, I love it...Thank you so very much for creating this for me now, for writing it in English, and for making this beautiful drawing & painting for my birthday. You have touched my heart deeply...I share the love & hugs & music of the day with you: Thank you so very much! mark

Beautiful work....I love this style....And your dexterity with words is unique. That is an incredible description of an event that rarely happens in my personal experience. To see that there are times when entire groups of people can move in harmony to welcome the new guy...Wonderful...Where I come from this can be rare....I see a lot of love in your colors and warmth radiates from your image. There is a purity to the style that I like....You create a great illusion of depth with a minimum of elements....Bravo for you and Mark...

Excellent abstract - I like the use of the frame between them but especially the material used that is pooled about the feet connecting and covering the two of them. Excellent artwork and story !!! 5* Realização e criação esplendida Ana :):):)
