There's a place Where meditation Meets reality And everything Seems to coaslesce Spiritual Becomes manifest And reality glows That is the place Where milestones Have meaning Transitions blossom We step Into the unknown Certain that we are Safe

You've caught so much here - the lines, the swirls, the textures... all highlighted by the direction of the light. This is an image I wish I could trace with my finger. It is PERFECT in B&W and definitely a milestone gift for Mark.

your talent amazes me daily too (ala Andrea)...Sorry I didn't catch this till now, I got back late and was drunk, as in from-Mars drunk, and I found this & if I'd commented then, trust me, you'd send an ambulance. Tara this is beautiful, one because the poem is dead-on and very touchingly written—your write like your more spare photographs, that way of finding real beauty in the simplest forms & lights—but your poems also have the opulence of your more lavish images as well. This says a lot in a few words, it's very yogic, very buddhist, and stepping "into the unknown certain that we are safe" is wonderful & true. And then there's your image: This is one of my favorite images of yours, which is a big deal since I have a lot of favorite images of yours...because of the sensuous flow of the woods & stones: It's lavish to me, like an ocean. And making it B&W seems the perfect choice: It allows one to feel the tones and flows so much more. It's beautiful & sensuous and I'm so touched you posted it for my birthday. Thank you so much. This was very special to come home to, it meant a great deal to me and I'm very grateful you thought of me with such beautiful words and image... (btw, I told a couple of people & will pass it onto you: If you ever drink Slivovitz, have a good serving of aluminum siding beforehand: It eats through marble, takes the paint off of walls, and after two glasses—and I had three ["Mark, it goes down like water, trust us..."]—I spoke in tongues. I don't know what that means, but I did it. Whoa that's heavy stuff...)
