Description
Finally made some time this week to continue the new Pangea-class world ship.
No layoffs since the 30 the previous Friday, but a couple of more people left to take positions outside the company last week. We're down to a core group at this point (~55 from 178) so hopefully lean means we can ride this horse through to the promised recovery.
I've settled (for now on a triangular structure for the domes. Sorta inspired by both the Air Force Academy cathedral and the "toaster" Resurrection ship.
The hot pink color in the render is what I use to determine if I have mapped all of my surfaces.
When I build using the GUI interface in DOGA and then export as a DXF for Inspire 3D (I3D), I usually end up with at least three surface values for each component, so once I convert from DXF into LWO (LW 5.5) which I3D Layout reads, I rename the surfaces and tag their color.
Then, I can load the component back into Modeler and build in the additional components for the object (as long as I stay within the ~64K polygon count limit of I3D).
Components are mine as well as some pieces from Larry Rosenthal's Starbase C3 kit components. background a simple starfield from Universe.

Best viewed at full size, of course. Great modeling and a nice presentation.
