Description

Captured 3/17/09, close to 9:15 AM, at the foot of the staircase in my hallowed habitat. So there I was that morning, reclining on the sofa, perusing the latest issue of Popular Science Magazine, when I happened to look up at the staircase wall, and was taken aback by the wonderful shadow display before my eyes. This has got to be recorded for posterity, I shouted. So, without further ado, and realizing that this grand spectacle wouldn't last but a few minutes, I grabbed my camera, stumbled to the stairs, and proceeded to snap away from near to far. Anyway, the long shadows of the switchplate and toggles are quite significant considering the small size of the elements. The toggle switches measure out 7/16ths of an inch from the plate, and the plate itself is a mere 3/16ths of an inch thick. The long narrow ladderlike shadows are from the venetian blinds, as you can probably surmise. And, the large, rather bulbous shadow under the switchplate in the top photo is that of a radiometer that sits atop the left window sill. All in all, like so much else in life, this is more impressive in person than in a digital photo. Thankx for the visit, and have a supercilious Sunday.

Even the smallest bump on the textured wall leaves its' individual shadow...I can see why this brought you into quick action. Clear, sharply focused and nicely done...

There's something so bold about these shots, and the progression—from smaller to larger to closeup—is wonderful too. You get a very bold & tactile feel in these triptychs, and the lights & shadows are wonderful. These are so enjoyable, Harry, and they're so approachable; one wants to reach in and touch these walls & switches. Fine work once again.
