Description

Alcobaça monastery, Portugal. This was a lovely sarcophagus of a Portuguese king(sarcophagus is an awful word by the way, it means corpse eater, it was first applied to a type of stone with which the containers were made, that the ancients thought would absorb the results of decomposition). As often happens it was broken into by robbers looking for loot, you can see the broken area lower left.
