Description

Super Armored Fighting Suit (SAFS) from the S.F.3.D series The S.F.3.D was a plastic kit series produced by the japanese company Nitto, The first series kit, the SAFS, was produced in December 1983 (now the series is renamed MA.K. ZbV3000). They were designed as scratchbuild models by Kow Yokoyama (inspired by the "Starship Troopers" novel mixed with WWII tanks) for a long-running photoseries in the model kit magazine Hobby Japan and because its popularity was produced as plastic kits of unmatched quality by NITTO Japan and were the first major science fiction kits released that included etched metal parts, springs, pieces of wire and decent decals. I have SAFS model for Poser for many year in my HD - since the 20th century (I don't know who was the author of the freebie) and now I let it free to destroy some other virtual soldiers... ;) Rendered in Poser 7. The texture of the SAFS is mine and it perfectly mach the model kit color scheme and decals (the original texture was ugly). Color correction and postroduction in Photoshop. The original is 2603x3636 pixels. Comments and rates on the image are welcomed! :)

The design is very original and non-traditional. I'm picturing a pilot's compartment with an omni-directional viewport, kind of like the cockpit of a gundam, but just for the pilot's head?

Whoah!!! Very cool. I had that exact model. I remember I got about half way done with it and never finished it, I got caught up trying to put tiny train set lights in it. This really bring back memories. Excellent work.
