Hi there. This Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) I found in the birdpark too. They are very large but I think in the forest you would not see him. The wingspan could be up to 200cm and they reach a weight up to 4,2kg. Eagle Owls mainly feed small mammals but sometimes they kill prey up to small deer and foxes. I German they are called "Uhu" because their call sounds like Uh-hu. This shot is taken through a grid too, please zoom...

Getting these shots through the cage is so frustrating- I have so many photos recently from the local Denver Zoo and from the zoo in Florida (currently on vacation right now) and I just want to rip the cage down! Well, anyway- this is a good shot considering-- I know what a pain it is, as the cage- even out of focus- still hinders the subject.
