Captured 3/5/09, very early in the morning, within walking distance of my semidomesticated domicile.
So, this is it, the Big K, the King Kilo, a day that I have long faced with trepidation because it meant that I had to make a choice among my tons of photos on which one to pick, with several eagerly yearning to be chosen for this commemorative honor. And it was a hard choice; the rose shown above had plenty of competition, believe me. In fact, I was even struggling over what narrative to include for this memorable event. Anyway, after much hemming and hawing and tossing and turning, I opted for the easy way out with a rose, since virtually all the viewers like/love the species, of which I've used several times to commemorate a hundredth posting.
Also, I'm glad I've finally reached the heady milestone of 1000 postings, especially with Marilyn/beachzz breathing down my neck with her daily offering of fine multiple postings. With that edge, she will soon pass me, along with so many others, but it won't be that traumatic, now that I've at least got this millenium thing under my belt.
Thank you all for your kind comments and forebearance in the face of my bloviating and puns over the years, and a special thanks to jocko500, who was the first member ever to comment on my stuff back on May 21, 2006, and has continuously stuck by me ever since. In contrast, so many others have since fallen by the wayside with their comments and even their own postings for various reasons or another.
I wonder if at this juncture whether I can hack another thousand uploads.

HAPPY #1000:-)) This is a gorgeous rose and of course the water droplets make it twice as interesting. With all of your fabulous collages, you probably could claim 2500-3000 photos posted. If you ever need to cut back, give us one favorite photo per day...you'd find that easy.

Wow, you made 1000! And this choice is exquisite, with a wonderful "rosy" color and all those lovely water droplets...there's lots more to photograph out there, I think you'll make another thousand easily. Some of us will be watching!

Is this rose contains thousand petals? certainly looks like or at least close to it...lol. Wonderful huge full bloomed head and a color is gorgeous. Congrat for the first 1000th Harry many will follow I am sure of it. What some of us would do without your daily funny coments and entertaining pictures you choosed to share with us.

WOW-1000---congratulations, Harry, your rose is the perfect way to celebrate!! And as far as my breathing down your neck is concerned, it's only cuz I spring for the $5 that I got there so fast. You've been around a lot longer and that makes this a far more momentous occasion--I have no doubt you'll make another 1000!!

Well let me be the second to fav this pic, and your whole gallery (which I still have yet to plumb!) The rose is beautiful and plump and almost looks like it's dripping fruit. And since the rose is a symbol of wisdom as well as beauty, it's a fitting choice. And I like what Marilyn wrote, that she's posted more than one shot a day—she graciously concedes the prize to you. Well you know what I think of your gallery by now, even in my short time here, I love coming here. Sorry I couldn't comment on the day, my connection was from the Middle Ages, but my congratulations remain regardless. Here's to 1000 more!!!
