Description

Cleaning out the kitchen pantry today and found this five year old box of sugar cubes. Dumped it out to see if it was full of dead ants or something and thought it was photoworthy. My daughter and I make a different Christmas house every year always held together with white icing because it looks snowy. These were overbought for a snow castle that turned out pretty cool:) (Those long stoagie pretzels work very well for making a log cabin.) And what old hippie can't remember the day when they were totally laced with LSD!

What a story! The pile looks like an aerial view of a city, I can imagine lots of tiny inhabitants rushing about!

I remember those days of being vaccinated with live Oral Polio Virus on a lump of sugar. Sweet white capture. Aloha

I remember getting my polio vaccines at the school on sugar cubes. A series of three cubes if I remember right and they were given out on Saturdays. I had to take my permission slip with me to the school. We stood in a line so long it snaked out of the cafeteria and around the building in the hot sun. When we got inside, we handed the nurse our slip of paper and slowly shuffled down the length of several cafeteria tables to a lady with a tray filled with little white paper cups and in each cup was one sugar cube. We all thought it was so wonderful that an adult was going to hand us a piece of sugar and insist we eat it when most of us got our hands slapped for sneaking one off the coffee service tray at home.
