Description

I used the old terrain originally made in WorldMachine (in "...and lava runs through it..., and "Ice-bound shore"), and adjusted the pov slightly. Although the relief is completely fictional, the image does show very well the actual "waiting for the storm" when I'm hiking on the Rab island, which has sandstone coast just like I tried to show in this render. It happens when warm southern wind blows, and air becomes moist and thick, almost electrified, and you're always on lookout for the incoming heavy rain sheets. Thanks for visiting!

Viewing this at work which means the monitor stinks but your pic is quite good, POV, angel up shows a lovely perspective and coastline. You might want to fix the foam on the water though, I always had probs with that too at this angle, wish I could share the settings, but can suggest minimizing them as it takes away from your surfaces... the eye draws into the water rather than the sky/terrain or surface...

Thanks for the comments, everyone! ppetersen - I'm not sure why the foam should be fixed? It's exactly as I wanted it to be (even better), and corresponds well with the weather-situation depicted in the image. I guess it really depends on personal preference and/or experience - my eyes are always drawn first to the waves crashing into the shore, because it's so loud and I get splashed by the water droplets if I'm near the edge; distant terrains are secondary when you're balancing youself in the wind (or I just like waves way too much ;) If I'm missinterpreting your comment, please let me know, if it's the technical matter that I'm not seeing (after all, I'm still taking baby steps with Terragen). Thanks for the input!

Superb! Love the atmosphere. You really got something here. I can almost smell the approaching rain.
