In response to certain viewer's comments here about 'Art' & on my Sazzart1 gallery at www.deviantArt.com:
Funny, you mentioning the traditional (Classic Masters) artists; the other day I was thinking about how so many of the famous art works by Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Titan, Rembrandt, et al, were possibly 'touched up' by their students at the time; on top of which, if you overlook the antiquity factor, how many of them are really that impressive?
I remember standing in line for 4 hours to see the real Mona Lisa painting when it was on loan at the National Museum of Art in Washington, D.C.; when I got in front of it, here was this little, slightly muddy painting - compared to the reproductions in art history books, if you see what I'm saying, very disappointing.
Thanks for viewing.

....I might add...imho it is their individual contributions to art at the time and their association with people of influence that makes their work very impressive indeed....Not as much as time takes its toll on the very old actual paintings that are worth zillions of dollars...but their very real contributions to making art an elevated celebratory pursuit in the world.. Before them artisans were not idolized or celebrities. The "celebrity" status of art and artists was not finalized until men like Dali and Picasso arrived on the scene and global communication grew to the point where artists could enjoy a much higher value on their work(ie more viewers(hence buyers) and a real understanding of how propaganda and an environment where self-promotion works.)...Follow this wonderfully rich history until we reach today's world.... where "fine"art is elevated to a much higher value placement in society and the according material gains associated with this placement....Artists only have this elevated stature because of these men and women. Their individual contributions to technique and all aspects of perspective , materials used, and so much more do not seem to be even considered in your statements...The only difference between what I said and what you said was that I believe they are very impressive indeed...it's just they don't look like they did when they were made....Interesting discussion...sorry for the long post....Wonderful abstract!!!! Peace
