i could have sworn i commented on this. and that it didn't have a background at the time. ah well, i think the change in background makes it look much better. i still like her pose, the dramatic lighting and the motion that her hair adds to the piece, and the galaxy behind her makes her stand out even better. it also implies the purpose of the device, and makes the whole image more interesting. i think the device would look more functional if there were something (glass, light energy field, etc.) between the metal pieces. if realism is your goal, i'd suggest applying bagginsbill's sRGB material to his "Artistic Lens", and using his inverse square falloff material on the spotlights. overall, it's a very strong image, and i think it will make a lovely print.
