Description

"Shepherd 'Shep' Henderson: She used a cat." --Bell. Book and Candle Screenplay by Daniel Taradash I've expanded my literary series to include classic movies, since I'm a huge film buff and one of my favorite romantic comedies came to mind this week. Pyewacket is the name of the character Gillian Holroyd's cat whom she uses to cast a love spell on a publisher, Shep Henderson. This is loosely based on the 1958 Columbia Pictures version of John Van Druten's play--though my image is not meant to resemble either of the actors. Where's the bell, you might wonder? On the typewriter (for those who are too young to remember such contraptions). : ) V3 character base: Manhattan Free Items Used: Post Package by http://www.3-d-c.de/ Found in the Free section at Renderosity: Antique typewriter by Cal Short Sexy MFD MAT by Anniebel Paris hair by Lisbeth My background and the face of the pendant are fractals I created in ArtMatic Pro and my necklace is the first smart prop I've ever created using basic shapes in Poser. I realize the model is rough, but I'm still learning. Someday when I'm much better at basic modeling, texturing, and creating brushes, etc. I hope to add a few things to the free section here. Tools used: Poser, Artmatic Pro, The Gimp Thanks for looking and have a fun weekend!

I don't remember the film, but I love the image; Gillian (yes? the woman?) is portrayed with relaxed confidence that she's doing just the right thing, the cat almost looks like a small tiger or cheetah (fierce though at rest), yes I definitely remember typewriters, and your background is a fascinating collection of visions & forms and almost a motherboard of spirit-circuits. It even weaves visionary shapes in the air, one very bell-like, and some like vault boxes in a bank...a very creative visualization of the film (which I remember only in snippets) and cloistered and like a place where someone could concoct spells if they wanted. And I like the cat's tail wrapping around the arm of the chair...Very finely done, all around, and fun to think about too...

Oh my gosh, I LOVED that film, with Kim Novack if I remember right. And the cat, Pyewacket, the minute I saw the title, I knew! I love the background you've created, and the medallion around Gillian's neck is fabulous! What a marvelous image, stands alone beautifully, or as a remembrance of the movie

I can easily see myself falling under the spell of that cat! Marvelous narration and illustration - great background. I'm a little surprised at the time-travel aspect - bar codes in 1958? :o)

LOL Good point, Faroutsider! There are a couple of things here that I may rethink on this image now that I've posted and received a couple of private suggestions. I am always open to suggestions and appreciate your eagle eye. I tend to use my gallery as a type of workshop--like a writer's workshop--where I can put my work out there and hope to receive feedback so I can improve my skills and/or get support to keep trying, or study people's reactions. Some of my images I improve, others I let go, and apply criticism to the next piece. This is one I'd like to stick with. So, thank you. : )
