I painted this image with the notion that it would be my image for the Via Colori street painting festival coming up in November. I'm usually notorious for coming up with my image at the last minute, which inevitably causes troubles getting it created on the street the weekend of the festival. That's why this image is square rather than my usual 8x10 or 10x8 format. The majority of it was hand painted in Paint Shop Pro X. I also employed several nice brushes created by Stephanie Shimerdla and a few Paint Shop Pro tubes in order to get the look I wanted for the stardust. A bit of cheating, I know, but I had spent so much time painting on the figure that I just wanted to get it finished. My experiments at fully hand painting that layer just weren't coming out the way I wanted, so I took the little shortcut to finish the piece. EDIT 4/4/09: I realized there was a perspective error on that back ear, so I went back and corrected it. This is now that updated image. EDIT 4/14/09: I realized thanks to a friend that I had forgotten to complete the shading on the face markings. This is, once again, an updated image.
