Description

Ever look at someplace far off in the distance and wonder if anyone there is looking back? The shoreline of Lake Michigan is a series of bays and inlets of varying sizes. Atwater Park in Shorewood WI is at the south end of one of these. (S) marks the approximate camera position for the north-looking image. It's where I shot the "Water Quality GOOD" image and the frozen Lake Michigan panorama uploaded earlier. On a clear day when the light is right you can see Port Washington, a small town thirty-some miles to the north. The power plant is noticeable with the naked eye. The white block to the right of it is the apartment highrise and the white line to the right of that is the town's water treatment plant. Just north of downtown Port Washington is a park that offer a beautiful southward view of Milwaukee from its bluff. (N) marks the approximate camera position for the south-looking image. Two clusters of towers are visible. The left cluster is a combination of University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and the highrises a couple miles south along Prospect Avenue. The right cluster is downtown proper. One of these days I'm going to have to get couple of big mirrors and draft a friend or two to help with an experiment. One of us will be at Atwater Park, the other will be on the bluff in Port Washington. As we jabber back and forth on cellphones, we'll try to use the mirrors to signal our locations to the other. Technical stuff: The panoramas are my images. The aerial shots are from Google (or whoever Google buys them from). Photoshop banged the whole thing together this morning while I listened to NPR.

Well Dave...I don't know how you do it, but somehow you always manage to make the mundane interesting! LOL The idea about the mirrors is great! Seeing the "glint" in the distance would make these photos just that much more interesting! Great job!!!
