UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Wheely Big wheels! Don't put yourself done, this is much better than a mere snapshot. It's well composed and completely in focus.

Very nice shot Bill! I wonder what the "R12" stands for???

OVER LOAD ;-) Great shot

Great shot and rare sight indeed Bill. They are a rare sight on the tracks here in Arizona. Something I miss, I used to watch trains all the time and still do when I am in the Flagstaff area!

WOW!

Stellar POV, colors, clarity and perspective depicted in this capture made under somewhat adverse conditions, Bill! I have some photos of train wheels that have deteriorated and rusted, sitting out in the yard of a railroad museum in Perris, CA. In contrast, yours are magnificent, hale, hearty and all primed to go.

How cool! Those must be incredibly heavy... Great capture!

Yep! Union Pacific spoken here. Heavy load. Business is expected to get better, don't you think? Lots of the old boys left. Got tired of sitting around waiting for work. Excellent reaction and capture.

The things you find as you are travelling around, Bill! This is where 'Auto' comes into it's own! My D40 has mainly Auto. But, as you say, Rail Wheels in town? Well here in the U.K., certainly not U.K. wheels! It's French or something. The British don't do British! Great snap mate, well found, well, it found you really!! Ha! Ha! Rob.

Great shot Bill, it's unbelievably clear ,considering the circumstances .... and the composition is perfect .... You framed it perfectly to achieve a great sense of perspective!! Whenever I take photos ,i'm allways dissapointed with the results ... even unnder the best of circumstances!!!! Well done !! tom

Cool photo and an excellent blue sky too (which always helps)

Oh man ... if I'd been in the car with you, I'd have been snapping away too! What a great opportunity! I'm glad you thought to shoot this, instead of just sitting there admiring the view. Great image!

sometimes we hit it lucky on an unrehearsed shot, but I throw my share away that did not work.excellent clarity and focus

Great shot Bill, we only usually see wheel that off rolling stock rusting and rotting somewhere, great to see new ones!

A lucky shot indeed, there is nothing like being in the right place at the right time.

ha this is great...and you are soo right, you never know when a decent shot shows up...has been so many times for me to drive through the countriy and seeing something I would love to take, but eiter no chance to stop the car in a decent manner or no camera with me...lol
anahata.c
well the shot showed up, I can appreciate that even though I've rarely photographed in my life...but it's also your eye that caught it, even if the 'catching' was in the sheer seeing...The hues & the blues of the sky, the highlights and shines and music of the wheels in formation all join up to make this another of your musical shots. It's beautiful.

Bill, it's a very impressive capture
