Description
Found these in the woods behind my house. They are not that new but they are not that old. They leafed-out (if that's a word) in the middle of winter. Haven't a clue as to what tree this is. Anyone know?

Beech! It hangs onto its dead leaves all winter until the new ones come in the late spring. Gorgeous colours here.
