Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

Stunning portait! I don't know Corey but from his work here and this amazing shot I feel I do. We have to wonder what he's thinking gazing off into the distance: Bemused, concerned, wistful - there's no definite answer. This is masterful. Great work

Hey, I know that face! I feel extremely vain commenting on a picture of myself, but I'll have to admit it's always interesting to see how someone else perceives you. Nice work as always. There's something about the color scheme that reminds me of one of those old Che Guevara posters. (Did I spell his name right?) Thanks for making me famous; it's a good shot.

except the good light on the face, I can't stop wonderful the colors of what nation are in the background. love the gradation.

I'm going to check out Corey's gallery—sometime this morning or day for sure—and this portrait is beautiful and thoughtful. The two-colored background (there are several colors up close, but we feel two) is a good backdrop to capture the many sides of a person; you caught some of the amber hue on his face; and his posture is gentle, looking out into the world and yet self-contained. Fine work Chip. And I like his reaction too. (Hard to react to a picture of yourself: Whaddya gonna say? "God, that guy's good looking!") And yes, there's a touch of the old Che posters, from the early days: a revolutionary with eyes of compassion. Next upload, you should post some of the duct tape...

I don't know Corey yet, but from the portrait I'm imagining a sensitive crazy genius of likely Eastern European ancestry; and even if it isn't true it's fun to speculate. A wonderful capture, Chip!

I like the colour lighting of this scene and how they merge around Corey like the land and the sea (or indoors and outdoors perhaps) and bridging both worlds. Duct tape: No doubt Corey would enjoy the Red Green Show.

UN EXCELENTE RETRATO. FELICIDADES.

Duct tape. How did we ever live without it? Does Corey watch the Red/Green show? LOL! A marvelous portrait, very pensive.
