The sign on his enclosure at Spier Wine Farm reads:
"Enigma
Male
Date of Birth: 25-05-2005
Born at De Wildt Breeding Centre and hand raised at Cheetah Outreach from two weeks of age, Enigma joined our Ambassador team to assist in creating awareness of the plight of the wild Cheetah. During his leisure time he shares an enclosure with Hemmingway with whom he was raised."
As anyone who has had the privilege of being close to these cats will attest, it is quite an experience. My daughter was not too keen, in fact in tears given all the information and instruction we were given prior to entering the enclosure. The handler managed to put her at ease and soon she was stroking the Cheetah too. It has an amazing coat, the tan fur quite coarse like a dog with soft cat-like black spots. Apparently there are over two thousand spots!
I handed my camera (with trepidation) over to the guide and she took the snap of my children and I.
Yet another adventure with my sister and children out from London. More to come!

Amazing experience I think. When I was a little boy I had a little lion on my lap for taking a shot. But I can't remember the feeling very well.
