Description
Once at home they realized that Jetsam had been seriously injured.
"We must bring her to a doctor's, one with a med-lab." J.S. told Eve.
"We don't have anythig like that here" - she replied. "The only ones with a chance to be cured with a med-lab are big shots' lovers and missionaries' cronies. For the others there's only mask-and-rattle medicine! Either you recover or die!" She didn't speak with acrimony, only with infinite sadness.
Since bringing Jetsam to Bradburyton was something couldn't be proposed, there was only one solution. J.S. nodded approval to himself and announced: "Then, we have to steal a med-lab ASAP."
The others, gathered around Jetsam, cried in unison: "You're unhinged!"
"No, comtinued J.S., who the more he thought about that, the more he liked the idea. "There are many cargo starships moored in an orbit around New Mars. A substantial numbers of them carry foreign aid and humanitarian relief, There'll be some med-lab for sure."
He looked at them and added: "We simply take one and bring it here. The real problem is this: is there a place absolutely safe, and large enough? I mean, where we can land, park the shuttle I'll hijack, and hide it, ourselves and the med-lab?"
Adam and Eve stared at each other and answered in unison "There is!"
"At least, I suppose so", added Eve always truthful.

reading through the comments on this series, you've obviously had very big fans; and when you get a "brilliant" from someone like e-brink, you're doing damned well! Anyway, you're setting up another potential conflict, getting contraband medication (or a lab), which of course prepares us for more potential conflict. Serialization of fiction demands this, often, and you do it quite well. Back in the home, I again love your detail. The stone floor, the rough stone or plaster walls. The deep reddish hue, perhaps from the outside, perhaps from the low lighting. A cave-like home, protection from the outside world, somewhat sparse but still protective...what we'd expect their home to look like. And among the sparsely laid out furnishings (all of which I like), I love that chair. That's one freaking big chair! Nice touches all around. And Eve is entering, we're clearly entering ourselves, and you've set up another conflict with JS's suggestion, who remains as solid as ever, in his convictions. All good fiction points. And finally, your added holiday image: Just terrific! I like the Happy What You Like, and the Weekend, etc, ending in Passover! Pesach! Mazel Tov! You even included it! (I come from a Jewish family.) Wonderful little addition. There are even some people in the background taking a moment to relax. I guess this is your DVD "Extra," where the cast stops to say "Happy Holidays, Everyone!" A real delight, Flavia. Bravo.
