Description
I photographed this family group on the way home from work the Friday before last. I was impressed that she had fourteen chicks - she must have managed to hatch every egg.
Sadly, after that weekend, when I saw them again, she was down to six chicks.
By Tuesday of this week, it was three but they are getting bigger now so, hopefully, she will lose no more.
Nature can be a wonderful thing, but also cruel and demanding. In some ways it is sad that they have to give life to so many in the hope that a few will survive.
